  1. Chartright proudly celebrates 30 years of success

In 2017, Chartright proudly celebrates 30 years of success.

Founded in 1987 by three aircraft owners looking for efficiencies in the operation of their own aircraft, Chartright has grown into the preeminent provider of aircraft management and charter services in the country.

Starting with three aircraft tucked into the corner of a hangar at Toronto Pearson International Airport (CYYZ), Chartright today operates approximately 40 aircraft at six different bases across Canada and the United States. In 1987, Chartright staff numbered less than 10. Today, we employ 190.

Success of this sort, particularly in the volatile aviation industry, does not come easily. So what is it that has enabled this kind of growth? Several things…

    We are Risk Takers

When the opportunity presented itself, we went to Moscow, establishing a full operating and maintenance base, with Canadian employees stationed full-time in Russia.

    We are Innovative

When hangarage became scarce at Toronto Pearson, threatening to cap our growth, we acquired 55,000 square feet of additional space at the Region of Waterloo International Airport (CYKF), Hangar 53.

    We are First Movers

We invest heavily in customer service features such as 24/7 on-site operations and our Customer Service Portal, providing clients with total transparency respecting the operation of their aircraft.

    We are Bold

Recently, we ventured into the U.S. market, establishing a partnership with Pennsylvania-based True Aviation. Our American headquarters have been established at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE). To date, we have placed five U.S. registered aircraft in three American cities.

    Most importantly…

    We are a Team

In the final analysis, Chartright is a service company. The services provided to our clients are provided by all of us. None of the spectacular growth described here would have been possible if the face of the company that we present to our clients was inconsistent, unpleasant, or less than competent.

The winningest coach in NFL history, Vince Lombardi, said “Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.” He was right and we, as a team, prove that year after year.

Aviation is a passion for many in our organization. Part of our team, mentioned too infrequently, are the many families who are patient and understanding with partners who pursue that passion. To those families, we say thank you for your contribution to our success.

    Thank You!

Thank you to our clients, employees and their families who have contributed to Chartright’s success. Happy 30th Anniversary!

  2. My First Private Charter Flight and Why I Will Now Forever Struggle Flying Commercially

Hello! I’m Cathy Caldarola, Chartright’s new Director of Sales & Marketing. I recently had the opportunity to experience a private charter flight on board one of the corporate jets we manage – a Bombardier Challenger 601.  We needed to reposition the aircraft from Toronto Pearson (CYYZ) to our hangar in Kitchener/Waterloo (CYKF), so what better time to get me on board to familiarize myself with our products and services!

Having only flown commercially all my life, I was trying to be cool when I boarded the jet…like, no big deal, right? Wrong! From the moment I climbed on board the aircraft, I was greeted with the luxurious interior and the warm smell of the leather chairs. My Chartright pilots were friendly and accommodating quickly offering to get me a bottle of Fiji water. Too bad this would be only an 18-minute flight and there was no time for a glass of wine.

I could quickly see why chartering an aircraft is so much easier than flying commercially.  I did not have to: arrive at the airport 90-minutes early; wait in a long security line; walk a marathon to get to my gate; corral with the mass of other passengers waiting for my zone to be called to board the flight.  Nope, none of those!  My pilots had been alerted that I was walking to the aircraft, so I just climbed on board and selected the seat I wanted to sit in.  In all, it took less than five minutes from when I parked my car.

It was just a quick taxi out of Pearson and we were on our way to Kitchener. Having flown commercially all these years, I wasn’t sure what else to expect…that is until I heard that familiar “ding” to alert me that the Captain was about to make an announcement and I had better be paying attention.  But that’s where the similarities to a commercial flight ended. Almost immediately, I was able to recline my already very comfortable leather chair to enjoy my short flight.  With no chatty passengers around to interrupt me, I was able to prop my iPad on my lap and actually get a bit of work done.  I could see why private charter is truly the way to travel:  easy, productive, comfortable, convenient, and a big time saver!
